Apples and Oranges
Apples and oranges are both round
fruit that grow on trees. They are both
taste good and have vitamins and nutrients that are good for you. Eating both on a regular basis can help to
keep you healthy. They both can be made
into juice. Oranges are orange in
color. Which came first the color or the
fruit? Apples can be red, green, yellow
or any combination of those colors. The
skin or rind of the orange is edible and a source of vitamin C but most people
do not eat it. The skin of an apples,
unless it is used in baking, is usually eaten.
The rind of an orange can be easily
removed with just your fingers. To
remove the skin of an apple you need a knife or peeler. Oranges can have seeds or be seedless. All apples have seeds. Once the rind is removed from an orange, it
can easily be separated into sections.
An apple would have to be sliced with a knife into sections.
Oranges can be made into
marmalade. Apples can be made into
jelly. Oranges are not used in
baking. Apples are made into pies. Except for the rind and seeds, all of an
orange is usually eaten. Usually the
core of the apples where the seeds are is not eaten. There are even special tools designed to
remove the cores from apples.
Apples usually come with stems,
oranges do not. The flesh of an orange
is soft and juicy. An apple is usually
crisp and crunchy. The orange tree is a
flowering evergreen. The apple tree is a
flowering deciduous in the rose family.
Oranges are citrus fruit.
In conclusion, while there are some
things in common between apples and oranges there are many differences as well.
