SHOULD SMOKING BE BANNED IN PUBLIC PLACES?
Smoking cigarettes has become a big problem for people around the world. This issue is getting more serious as the smokers are not only men, but also women and even children. Smoking can be dangerous not only for the smokers, but also for those around the smokers. Smoking can affect the environment, the health of people and even can cause a death. People debate whether smoking in public places should be banned or not. The smokers surely oppose the smoking ban in public places, meanwhile the non smokers will support it. Despite it still cause many arguments from people, there are some reasons that smoking ban in public places gives positive results.
Opponents of smoking ban in public places claim that it is their choices to go to everywhere they want. If people do not want to inhale the smoke from the smokers, they should not go to the places where smoking is allowed. However, that  argument is unreasonable. In my opinion, it is not the others’ faults if they go to the  same place as the smokers go. They also have a freedom to go to all places they want. It is a public place, so all of people can go. Then, the smokers should think not only about themselves, but also the people around them. In fact, people that inhaling the smoke (secondhand smoke) from the smokers’ cigarettes will get health problems because of it. Secondhand smoke causes liver damage, cancer and it can lead to sudden death due to heart attack. According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), every year in America, secondhand  smoke causes about 34.000 deaths from heart disease and 7.300 deaths from lung cancer. It means that if smoking is banned in all public places, surely the numbers of people who suffer from diseases of secondhand smoke and also the numbers of death will decrease.
Opponents also think that smoking is not really dangerous for them as active smokers, moreover for the passive smokers. However, it is not right. Many of people still do not realize that smoking cigarettes is really dangerous for both active smokers and passive smokers. Smoking cigarettes can give dangerous effects to our body. Cigarettes are made from tobacco that contain of nicotine. It is a substance in tobacco that makes smoking is addictive and can make people die. So that, if there is smoking ban in public places, they automatically will reduce their smoking. It means that smoking ban in public places will reduce the use of nicotine from cigarettes that can kill them.
The final argument of opponents is that smoking ban in public places will not make them quit from smoking. It will cause them smoke more at their house and will harm the people in the house. I believe that smoking ban exactly will encourage smokers to smoke less or give up on smoking. It makes smoking will not become a social activity again. They say that it will make them smoke more at house, but I believe that they will not do that. They surely do not want to harm the people in the house. The smoking ban will automatically make them give up on smoking because they have no choice where they should smoke and they do not want to harm the people in the house. This means that if they give up on smoking, they will have a healthier life, decrease their risk of some diseases and also will not harm the people around them.
It has been cleared that smoking in public places not only will harm the smokers, but also people around them. Smoking affects the environment, endangers the health of people around them and even causes a death. There are some reasons that smoking ban in public places give positive results. Smoking ban will make the numbers of secondhand smoke and the risk of some diseases decrease. Besides, it also makes the smokers reduce the use of cigarettes and even cause the smokers give up on smoking. Therefore, I do agree that smoking in public places should be banned.
