Kontrakan & Kostan
Kontrakan & Kostan
One
thing that sticks closely and characterize the overseas student is temporary
abode known as boarding house. It has
become a common practice for every student who wander far from home, living in
a foreign land by renting a temporary shelter. Not surprisingly, student
boarding house business into a separate business area for the community
surrounding the campus. At this time, boarding house have more facilities like
a hotspot wifi, café and other facilities. There are a lot of boarding house
have similar facilities, but they offer with cheap prices. Besides boarding,
one other significant terms almost identical to the boarding house is rented.
It is called “kontrakan bersama”. Where the difference boarding house and
rented (kontrakan)?.
One
thing that made the difference is the number of occupants. Kost usually rented
by individuals. One room plot, leased to one occupant. But do not rule out the
possibility of more than one person. Tenanted system is per room. Among the
occupants of the room with other occupants of the room, almost certainly not
have social relationships. Kostan shape typically is a four building lots,
which each room is rented for boarding. The payment system can per month, per
year, or even daily. However, there are other forms such as a boarding house
with deliberately rented a few rooms of the house owner to another person. In
other words, the tenants will live together in a house with the landlord. Boarding
systems are usually more attached to the student.
While the “kontrakan” can be regarded as a
deliberate house rented as a whole. Tenant is a group of people. They have had
a previous social relations. Homeowners will rent out his house as a whole and
not per room. The payment system usually per year. System for rent are usually
more attached to the family. And usually there are more garage for 1 house.
Boarding
system and contract system each course has its advantages and disadvantages.
Well, since I am also a student overseas, of course, also I had to rent a place to stay. Incidentally, viewed from the system, I can say with the hire contract system.
Then, there is one unique thing. I usually call a place to stay while this is not the second term at the top. One other term that I use, which may sound familiar to other overseas students, is the term home. Yes, I prefer to call this temporary abode as a home, not “kostan” or “kontrakan”. Why?
Is it because I was hired by the contract system? Not. In fact just a lot of other students who also rented the contract system, calling them to a rented residence, or even kostan. But I prefer to call it home. Although maybe if I stayed in kostan.

One
main reason is because the term house contains deeper sense than the term
boarding or rented. There is one slogan that we know, "home sweet home".
We have not heard, "kostanku, palace", or "kontrakanku,
palace".
The phenomenon that often I have encountered among some overseas students is, how ignorant they are in residence. Her home is only limited room terraced 3x4 square meters. The rest, is considered as a place to stay other people outside responsibilities. Even a piece of junk that is at a distance of a few centimeters in front of the rooms kostnya, he considered not his responsibilities. They prefer to call home as kostan. Turns istilahkostan help narrow our thinking about where to stay.
I do not necessarily judge semerta kostan student. Those who live in a rented also sometimes applies equally. And also there are some who care about each other.

Try
using the term home. The term will lead to suggestions of its own house in
ourselves. Suggestion of taking ownership. Not only have rights, but also have
an obligation. The term home also gives the impression of closeness between the
inhabitants of the other occupants. Because the house is the family residence.
Those in one family rumahadalah roof.
Maybe the last sentence of last paragraph that the words is "rumahadalah" means "house is" and then last sentence of paragraph 5 that the word is "istilahkostan" means "means of kostan" ,, oke?? Thank you

ReplyDeleteHi dhooo..your essay looks unique and funny..but, you shouldn't have to give the translation of indonesian languge..well, i will give you my feedback about your essay..here they are:
1. on the first paragraph, you'd better to change this one "There are a lot of boarding house have" into "There are a lot of boarding houses which have". then, you'd also better to add "In Bahasa Indonesia" at the beginning of this sentence "It is called “kontrakan bersama”"
2. on the second paragraph, the word "made" supposed to be "makes".then, after word "but" you should give comma after it.
3. on the fourth paragraph, "also I had" better to be replaced into "I also had".
i think, that's all..good writing!
TFC guys
ReplyDeleteHello Fatih!!!
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry but any words that you must change because that’s wrong words, such as :
In the first paragraph, characterize it should be the characterize. boarding house have it should be boarding house has. Wifi it should be WIFI.
When you want to write ib Bahasa, you can use (“…”) like Kost must be “Kost”.
I think that’s all..
Thank you Fatih…
